How to boost your Alexa traffic ratings for Free
For anyone that doesn’t know Alexa is owned by Amazon.com and is a website that provides free information on traffic levels for websites.
So how does it work? Alexa generates a traffic rank for a website based on the number of visits and page view the website receives from internet browsers that have the Alexa toolbar installed, the higher the Alexa rank is the more traffic the website has.
You may have noticed the major flaw with Alexa in the last paragraph; the Alexa page rank is determined only from internet browsers with the toolbar installed, there are millions of computers that don’t have the toolbar installed that may visit a website which won’t be counted.
Unfortunately if you own a website and are considering selling online advertising many advertisers use Alexa to get a rough idea how busy your website is and therefore how much advertising on your site is worth, so it is a good idea to try and improve your Alexa page rank.
Getting started with Alexa
Getting started with Alexa is very easy visit the Alexa website and download the toolbar onto your computer. Run the install and the toolbar will be installed on your internet browser, it is compatible with both Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Tip; if you use the google toolbar as well you may not want to insall yet another toolbar, so you may want to consider installing the firefox extension SearchStatus extension which combine both elements from the Alexa andf Google toolbar.
