The Cahoot webcard can cut down online fraud
With the advent of chip and pin, fraudsters are turning their attention away from the high street and onto online shopping, so for anyone that wants to be extra security concious the Cahoot webcard could be the answer.
What is the Cahoot webcard? It is a virtual card you only use online that is attached to your normal cahoot banking. It is free for anyone to use that has a cahoot current account or credit card.
Normally when you shop online you enter you credit or debit card details into the chopping checkout and make your purchase, there is a very slim chance that someone could find out these details and go on a shopping spree at your expense.
The Cahoot webcard eliminates this each time you shop online the virtual webcard (which you can either download to your home computer as a piece of software or logon to if you are on another computer) will generate a one off card number that can only be used for that one single transaction, so even if someone does find it out it will be useless.
How can I get a webcard? If you are already a member of Cahoot and have either a credit card with them or a current account you can add the webcard free of charge from the Cahoot control panel when you logon. If you are not a member of Cahoot all you need to do is register for a current account (you don’t even need to pay your monthly income into it) or credit card and add the webcard on at the same time.

The webcard can be used on your home computer or from any other computer if you are out and about, and it works with virtually any online shop in the world.
The only purchases it is not suitable for are when you need to show your ‘real’ credit card to collect your purchase like transport tickets, cinema and concert tickets, as the numbers will not match.
But other than that it adds a very useful free piece of security to your online shopping.
